Aircrafts  of the Tiraspol Airfield

Tiraspol Airfield is an airfield located approximately 1 km northwest of Tiraspol.

Type: Originally a military airfield.  It were made attempts to convert it into a civil airport.

Runway: Length — 2,500 m, width — 44 m, surface — concrete.

The airfield was used intensively  during the Soviet era:

The 45th Bomber Aviation Regiment was based here in 1940–1941. In the post-war years, the airfield hosted various fighter aviation regiments (including the 91st, 73rd Guards, and 684th Guards), operating aircrafts such as the Yak-3, Bell P-63, MiG-15, MiG-21, MiG-23, and others. Until 1989, the airfield served as a Soviet Air Force base.

On June 20, a presentation of the new “Aircraft of the Tiraspol Airfield” stamp series took place at the Tiraspol Main Post Office.

This marks the fourth issue dedicated to aircrafts.

Previous series were released in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

The set is printed in both perforated and imperforated versions.

The edition of the perforated  set  is 4800 pieces. (600 sheets each)

The edition of the imperforated  set  is 800 pcs. (100 sheets each)

The serial number of  these sets  according to the catalog of postage stamps of the PMR is  

1473–5.
