On July 20, a presentation of the commemorative postal block “225 years since the birth of A.S. Pushkin” took place at the Bendery Historical and Local History Museum.
The postal block depicts monuments to the poet located in Bendery and Tiraspol. The postal block coupon is decorated with a passage from the poem of A.S. Pushkin “Poltava” directly related to the city of Bendery.
This is already the fifth postal issue dedicated to A.S. Pushkin. Before this “Pushkin” stamps were issued in 1994 (postal block), 1999 (2 stamps), 2017 (one stamp from “225 years of Tiraspol” set), 2019 (one stamp from the “Famous People” set).
It is known for certain that during the period of the poet’s southern exile (1820-1824), Pushkin visited the territory of modern Transnistria four times. In January 2024, A.S. Pushkin visited the Bendery fortress in order to find the grave of Hetman Mazepa.
The block is printed in both perforated and imperforated versions.
