On July 20, a presentation of the new postal set “Summer Olympic Games” took place at the Bendery Historical and Local History Museum.
Two stamps in this set are dedicated to Pridnestrovian athletes.
Larisa Popova is an eight-time USSR champion and three-time world champion in rowing. At the 1976 Olympics in Montreal she won silver as part of the four pair team. It was the finishing shot of the final race that became the subject of the brand.
Four years later in Moscow in the two pair team competition together with Minsk resident Elena Khloptsova she took Olympic gold.
Natalya Valeeva, a native of the village of Ternovka in the Slobodzeya district brought two bronze medals to the united CIS team in archery at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona: in the individual and team championships. Barcelona was Valeeva’s Olympic debut. In total, she participated in five Olympics.
This year four athletes from Pridnestrovie are taking part in the Olympics in Paris.

Daniela Moguryan (artistic gymnastics)
Vlad Ursu (table tennis)
Alexey Korovashkov (canoeing)
