The first republic on the territory of Pridnestrovie was proclaimed in Kharkov , the capital of the Ukrainian SSR at that time . This republic was called MASSR . The MASSR included 11 administrative districts on the territory of which more than 570 thousand people lived. Moldovans made up less than a third of the population of the MASSR, while the majority of residents (57%) were Ukrainians and Russians.
These were the territories of the former Kherson and Podolsk provinces of the Russian Empire, where representatives of different nations had settled since the end of the 18th century. This is what determined the multicultural composition of the region’s population, which became one of the distinctive features of the Pridnestrovian identity.
On October 25, a presentation and cancellation of a commemorative envelope with an original stamp “100 years since the formation of the MASSR” took place in the building of the Tiraspol Main Post Office.
The circulation of the envelope is 200 pieces.
