Postage сancellation  “20 years of the John the Baptist Monastery”

On July 7 a postage cancellation took place on the territory of the John the Baptist Monastery.

In honor of an important Orthodox holiday  there were many guests in the monastery. The festive liturgy was led by the Archbishop of Tiraspol and Dubossary Savva.

The history of the monastery began in the summer of 2003 with the creation of a male monastic community. Some believers wanted more seclusion from worldly life. At the end of the year, on December 31, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church blessed the opening of a male monastery in the name of the Prophet, the Precursor  and the Baptist of the Lord Ioannes  in the Kalagur landscape unit  of the Rybnitsa region. The first inhabitants of the monastery were Hieromonk Sergius (Vahtomin), Hieromonk Zosima (Grzhibovsky) and about ten novices.

The place for the monastery was found secluded and beautiful – not far from the village  Stroenci, in the forest, on a mountain with a beautiful view on the Dniester.

The edition  of the envelope with postage  cancellation is 100 pcs.
