During the formation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and its Armed Forces, in order to maintain the military-patriotic spirit, ideological and cultural education of military personnel, a brass band of the General Staff was organized by the Order of the Minister of Defense dated March 29, 1993.
A military band is a special full-time military unit designed to accompany military rituals. The orchestra of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the PMR not only fulfills its immediate duties, but it is also one of the main music band of the country.
The orchestra’s repertoire includes more than 600 works by classical composers, as well as contemporary composers and arrangers.
On March 29, 2023, a cancellation of a new postal issue took place in the hall of the Pridnestrovian State Theater. Defense Minister Lieutenant-General Oleg Obruchkov and chief conductor of the orchestra Vitaly Voynov took part in the cancellation.
The numbered small sheet was printed in the State Institute of Enterprise “Bendery Printing House Polygraphist” on self-adhesive paper. Circulation of a small sheet is 400 pieces, of which 200 sheets are enclosed in a souvenir cover.
