Football club “Sheriff”

Football club “Sheriff” is a football club from the city of Tiraspol (PMR). It was founded on April 4, 1997. It   participated in the National Division of Moldova and  played home matches at the Sheriff Sports Complex  in 2002. The main arena of the  sports complex is the  largest football stadium in  Moldova and  it includes 12,746 spectators.

Sheriff is the most titled  club in the history of Moldavian football: twenty-time champion of Moldova, eleven-time winner of the Cup of Moldova, seven-time winner of the Super Cup of Moldova, two-time winner of the Commonwealth Champions Cup. Sheriff is also the first Moldavian club to reach the group stage of the Champions League and the Europa League.

Cancellation of two postal miniatures dedicated to the 26th anniversary of the Sheriff football club took place at the capital’s main post office. The first prints on the First Day Envelope (FDC) were made by the goalkeeper and coach of the Sheriff goalkeepers Sergey Pashchenko, the president of the Transnistrian Football Federation Pavel Prokudin and the club’s press secretary Miroslav Primovich. Sergei Pashchenko also signed the FDC, which he handed over to the students of the Sheriff Football Academy.

The overprint on a postage stamp with a face value “D”  from the set “World Cup 2022” was made by embossing with gold and silver foil.

The edition  of each stamp is 1720 pcs (215 small sheets each).
